PARENTS’ RESPONSIBILITIES
Education is collaborative. Cooperation between parents and teachers is essential in providing children with secure, nurturing environments—both at home and at school—in which they can learn and grow.
Parents can support their child’s learning at school by committing to:
· Ensure your child is well rested and prepared for school.
· Do your best to support the mission and philosophy of the school and reinforce those ideals in the home environment.
Parents can also ensure the following:
· Update the school with the most current information regarding your Home address and Telephone number(s), Employer’s name and telephone number, Doctor’s name (and copies of health insurance cards), and all Emergency telephone numbers.
· Ensure that the school has written permission from you for your child to go someplace other than home after school, to be picked up by someone other than you, or to otherwise vary your child’s daily routine.
· Sign your child in if your child arrives at school late. Sign your child out if your child leaves before the end of the school day.
· Contact the School Administrator in writing or with a telephone call, should your child be under undue stress or anxiety.
· Make prompt arrangements for the immediate collection of your child from the school should your child be ill.
· Make prior arrangements with the school (especially teachers) if your child will be absent from school for family trips, vacations or other extended activities.
· Help your child dress appropriately for the weather.
· Label personal items with your child’s name.
DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES

· A warning or a reprimand
· An apology to wronged parties
· A practice of action to correct the offence
· Loss of specific privileges
· Exclusion from class and activities
· Restitution repair or replacement of damaged properties
· A meeting with parents over serious or repeat offences

DRESS POLICY
Our dress code is to respect individual differences, personal style and identity. We do not require everyone to dress alike. We expect each student to dress neat and modest and exercise good grooming habits. Extremes in attire, make-up or hairstyles are not appropriate.
· Students should dress appropriately for active learning.
· Apparel with wording and logos should be appropriate for a Christian School.
· Students under 6 should have a change of clothes in case of an accident. This change of clothes should be left at the school. Students of all ages are welcome to leave a change of clothes at the school.
ATTENDANCE
Strict records of student’s absences and tardiness are kept on file at Harvest Fellowship Christian School. We ask that parents excuse only those absences resulting from personal illness, professional appointments that cannot be scheduled after school hours, or family emergencies. Parents are strongly requested to notify the school in advance if their child is going to be absent.
Important information:
At this time (2009-2010 school year) we plan to have school only 4 days per week, Monday – Thursday. There will only be required work to be done on Friday (at home) if goals were not met by the student Monday – Thursday. This may vary week to week or due to students needs. There may be times that school will not be held and parents will be responsible for their child’s care in that event. However, the school will give as much warning as possible before changing the Monday – Thursday schedule for any reason. If the schedule is changed for any reason it should only be for that given week. The change will not be permanent.
VALUABLES
We strongly discourage students from bringing items of value to school. Valuables such as jewelry, toys, electronics, etc., serve to both tempt and distract. The school cannot be held responsible for their safekeeping and will not be liable for loss or damage to personal valuables. Mobile phones are not to be used during school hours. Please ensure that personal items are clearly marked with the student’s name.
LOST AND FOUND
Students who have lost personal property or items of clothing should check their classroom area and the “Lost and Found” area in the school office. Unclaimed items will be dispersed at the administrator’s discretion at the end of the school year.
TELEPHONES
Teachers and staff should be contacted via the school telephone. If you need to speak to a teacher please call the school office and make an appointment.
Students are permitted to use the school’s main telephone in matters of extreme importance or urgency with permission from the school Administrator. In the event of illness, school personnel will contact the child’s parent(s) or emergency contact.
Please do not call your child’s mobile phone during school hours. If you need a message delivered to your child, call the school office. Your child may ask for permission from the teacher to place a call using his/her cell phone at the appropriate times.
LUNCH
Our school does not have a cafeteria or a hot lunch program. Students must bring a lunch to school. A microwave is available.
FIELD TRIPS
Field trips extend your child’s experience into the world beyond the borders of the classroom. Excursions provide opportunities to gain richness of culture and nature can be encouraged firsthand- and students can get to know one another and their teachers in different settings. Your authorization is required for your child to attend field trips, and your child’s current medical information must be provided to the school. An occasional additional fee will be required to cover some costs incurred. Parents are usually welcome to attend most field trips.
MEDICATION
If your child needs any special medication, the parent must send a note to the school office along with the medication.
INJURY AND ILLNESS
Cases of injury and/or illness will be addressed in the school office. If the injury or illness is minor, the student will be treated and returned to class. If medical attention is require, the school office will follow emergency procedures.
An ill child should remain at home until the illness may no longer infect others, and until the child has recovered enough to perform successfully in class.
Children who become ill during the day would inform their teachers, who will then inform the school office. Parents must collect their ill children as soon as possible, as the school does not have treatment facilities or a school nurse.
REPORT CARDS
Thorough assessments of a student’s performance, behavior, demeanor and progress are issued at the end of each 9 week period and/ or the completion of 3 sets of paces per subject.
